SALSA MAGIC is ready to hit the road!

I am available to come to your classroom or school assembly—and I do virtual visits as well. Your students will learn about Maya Beatriz Calderon Montenegro and her quirky family dynamics, a brief history of Puerto Rico and its connection to the Triangle Trade System, as well as Puerto Rican culture, food, and, of course, MUSIC. And it’s interactive! Your students will learn how to play the güiro and, with a short salsa lesson, may even wind up dancing! (It’s hard to stay still when salsa music is playing, and you gotta get these kids moving, y’know?)

I also have a presentation that is more career-focused, in which I talk about my journey as a writer and the many ways that aspiring writers can earn a living in the real world.

I live in Maryland, so I am able to travel locally within the DMV. However, I am willing to travel if expenses are paid. Title I schools get a discount.
