Who I am: I’m a Californian Nuyorican Blatina writer, editor, author, and mom currently residing in Maryland and probably dreaming of being on a beach somewhere. A veritable Jane of All Trades when it comes to creating content, I bring a wealth of diverse lived and professional experiences to the creative buffet.

The Receipts: Currently, I am the debut author of an middle-grade novel titled SALSA MAGIC, published by Levine Querido, publishsed in September 2023. You can order it on Bookshop or Amazon.

As Ed Trust’s editorial director, I have written about topics from school counselors to healthy school lunches, to LGBTQ+ students, and have edited countless blog posts, briefs, and reports. As a blogger, my work has been featured at sites like TueNight, Education Post, iVillage (RIP), TV-One, and Mamiverse. At strongnation.org, I created content for a major website overhaul that included everything from the About Us pages to a blog series on school discipline reform. I’ve also been a Director of Content and Social Media for a multicultural marketing firm, the Collage Group, where I launched a consumer-facing app; and Enroll America, where I educated the public on how to get Obamacare, and created the #getcovered hashtag that is still being used by the White House.

As a digital copywriter and creative consultant, I’ve been contracted by Ogilvy PR, where I created digital and social copy for corporate clients and government campaigns, and Adfero, a strategic communications firm. Before that, I served as digital content & community consultant for Gannett’s MomsLikeMe. I am also the former managing editor at Nickelodeon, executive editor of Latina magazine, and senior editor of WhatToExpect.com.

The Recipe: With 20+ years of multimedia experience as a writer and editor—web, mobile, print, and video—I’ve developed a knack for establishing voice and tone to create dynamic, relevant content for brands, campaigns, and organizations. I speak/read/write two other languages (Spanish and Italian), and am well-versed in wide range of topics—pop & urban culture, Latine and African American, women’s & children’s issues, parenting & pregnancy, education, health, finance, politics, sex, entertainment, sports, travel, lifestyle, beauty and fashion. As an entertainment journalist, I have interviewed celebrities such as Pharrell Williams, Erykah Badu, Usher, Method Man, De La Soul, Rita Moreno, and the late Aaliyah and Celia Cruz. (And Beyonce hugged me!) My skills are malleable enough to fit any environment where effective messaging, creative story-telling and entertainment are key. My style runs the gamut from socially responsible to foolishly irreverent.

Get to know me! Like me! Follow me! Hire me! All of the above!
